We can read the Torah text as history or as a story, but either way, we are not involved in making the tale, just in relating and interpreting it. The characters are both the powerful and the disenfranchised, but we, the readers are neither. And, then, I think about us today and wonder if we may be approaching our lives and times as if we are still neither… not powerful, nor engaged….
With each word and line
The slow, painful unfolding
Of power and dreams.
The slow, painful unfolding
Of power and dreams.
